Product Features
The Velashape treatments consist of radio frequency, infrared light energy, vacuuming and mechanical massage of the skin. The manufacturers of these treatments claim that they are the first to come up with this technology, and they claim that it is safe and effective as well as FDA approved. The treatments are marketed as a non-surgical alternative to liposuction surgery which is intended to reshape, tone, and contour the body with results seen in as little as 4 treatments. The official website for the Velashape treatments says that consumers can expect to see gradual smoothing of the skin with a noticeable improvement in the presence of cellulite as well as an improvement and noticeable reshaping of the treated area. The treatments are used on the thighs, buttocks, and abdomen and on the love handles. The website has posted several before and after photos of those who have had the treatments. The treatments are said to pose no threat to the outer layers of skin, however, the treatments do involve using intense heat which is then cooled to comfort the skin after treatment. The website recommends 4 initial treatments with a once per month maintenance treatment to follow.
Advantages
- Velashape is a non-surgical alternative to cellulite surgery.
- Velashape has been approved by the FDA.
Disadvantages
- Velashape takes a minimum of 4 treatments with ongoing follow-up treatments to see results.
- The official website does not contain any pricing information for those who may be interested in the treatments.
- There are no treatment centers outside of the United States.
- While cellulite is a big problem for many, ridding yourself of the appearance of cellulite is not synonymous with weight loss. In this case, it depends on the dieter’s goals.
Velashape has certainly received a lot of media attention and may offer a temporary solution to the problem of cellulite. However it doesn’t seem to offer any benefits for those who actually need to lose body fat. It is great that the FDA has approved using Velashape as a treatment for cellulite and sees no reason to label the treatments as unsafe. On that note, according to the description of the treatments on the website, they do involved using intense heat which may be painful and uncomfortable for some individuals. There is no pricing information on the website so interested parties will have to call for additional information. Those who simply want to drop a few pounds will most likely have to continue their search for an effective weight loss product.
