About Jane Guyton
My challenge came when my husband was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 1997. Sharing the anguish of the diagnosis, the difficult choices available for treatment and the concerns surrounding surgery - his ultimate choice of treatment - was a profound experience. I am filled with gratitude that he lived and made a full recovery. I am also gratified that my life and work experience up to that time helped me move through each day with open eyes and an open heart. My career has focused on how human beings learn, how our minds and bodies interact, and how we experience health. My early work in training and development was followed by 14 years as a practitioner in complementary health care and 4 years as Executive Director of a non-profit learning center. My coaching work centers on guiding people to navigate change, manage the natural stresses of their everyday lives and responsibilities, achieve balance in life and health, and explore new realms of learning. I direct a four-month program of personal learning for Newfield Network, and I mentor student coaches working towards certification. I authored the book, Awakening the Intuitive Heart, First Word Press, 1994, and the articles, "The Emergence of the Feminine" and “Ontological Coaching.” I studied elementary education at the Hertfordshire College of High Education in Hertfordshire, England. I have a BA in Speech & Communication from Old Dominion University, Norfolk, Virginia and an MA in Energy Medicine from Greenwich University, Hilo, HI. I am an ontological coach, certified by the International Coach Federation. I recently wrote an article entitled "A Manager's Guide to Handling Illness in the Workplace -- What to do when someone you work with is diagnosed with a serious illness" which was published in the November 2002 issue of Executive Update. |
