About Heather Kaye-Jacobs
Two people very close to me have faced shocking diagnoses, and from my experiences with them, my passion to serve others in similar situations was born. I began my career as an RN with Leukemia patients. When I was still a practicing nurse, my sister was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. This was my first directly personal experience with cancer. It was a hugely frightening and turbulent time for my whole family and it changed us all. More than 25 years later, the week after my mother died, my husband was diagnosed with melanoma. Again, it was unexpected and horrifying. Standing by him, attending doctor's appointments, witnessing procedures, sharing in decision-making, and waiting long hours during surgery, all strengthened my resolve to live every day to the fullest and support others in making the minutes count. My sister and husband both survived their cancer diagnoses and we continue to make the most of each moment we have with each other. In my quest to assist people in finding personal fulfillment through life's most challenging situations, I branched out from traditional health care. Over the next 25 years my journey has taken me into hospital consulting, organizational and team development, personal and professional coaching, and retreat facilitation. Twenty of those years demanded a great breadth of sensitive leadership as a senior manager, coach, and facilitator. I have worked with people in every setting, from individuals facing life-changing situations to executives in Fortune 500 companies looking for a better understanding of how work and life strategy are indistinguishable. For the last 5 years, I have run my own consulting company and have been a trainer/mentor for student coaches. Some of what I learned in those years is summarized in "Awakening Purpose and Vision" designed to help individuals uncover their purpose and design their legacy, published by MasteryWorks. In addition to an RN, I have a BA in Management, and an MS in Human Resource Development from American University in Washington DC, along with Professional Coach Certification. |
