Genotype Diet Review

What You Should Know

The Genotype Diet is an interesting diet method developed by one Dr. Peter D╒Adamo. By asking dieters a series of questions, the Genotype Diet will assign you to one of six possible genotypes, each of which is associated with different diet and exercise needs. Dr. D╒Adamo╒s hypothesis is that we are all genetically predisposed towards different body types and different metabolic requirements, and that not every weight loss method will be effective for every genotype.

The six different categories within the Genotype Diet are: The Hunter, The Teacher, The Gatherer, The Explorer, The Warrior and The Nomad. The official Genotype Diet website goes into great detail regarding the specifics of these different types. For example, we are told that ╥Gatherer╙ types try to retain every calorie consumed, while ╥Warrior╙ types have a lot of energy but will gain weight quickly if not physically active. There is a quick questionnaire on the Genotype Diet website that will suggest a likely type for you, after which it seems you must sign up for an account to view suggested diet and exercise routines. It is also implied that the Genotype Diet will contribute to an overall healthy lifestyle by preventing diseases that certain ╥types╙ are heavily susceptible to, in addition to helping with weight loss goals.

Product Features

In addition to online advice and an assortment of e-mail news letters, the Genotype Diet is also available as a reference book. Dr. D╒Adamo seems to make frequent public appearances, and to still be heavily involved in researching genetics and health concerns. He also keeps a blog. The Genotype Diet website offers recipes based on a dieter╒s type, and presumably more are available once you sign up as a Genotype Diet member.

Pro╒s

  • The relationship between health, weight and genetic factors like blood type is currently the subject of a great deal of research.
  • Some of the recipes provided on the Genotype Diet site look good!

Con╒s

  • Scientific proof to back up the Genotype Diet seems pretty anecdotal.
  • If you have had no luck losing weight with other diet programs, there is little that sets this one apart.
  • The Genotype Diet approach to weight loss looks all over the map to us, and we╒re not sure how the diet, exercise, and philosophical components ultimately match up.
  • Dieters must pay a fee to access all web content on the official Genotype Diet site.

Conclusion

There are many intriguing elements going on with the Genotype Diet, but we╒re not sure if they are all coming together coherently. A lot of the research currently being done on how genetics affects weight and health is definitely important, but if you╒re just looking to lose 10 lbs., there may be more philosophy and theory here than you really need. If dieting has not led to weight loss for you in the past, the Genotype Diet probably won╒t yield very different results.

Top Choice for 2010: Avesil

Avesil is clearly the most promising weight control formula we know of on the market. After looking at hundreds of different purported weight loss supplements, Avesil was the most rigorously researched one that we could find. The foundation behind the Avesil formula was an original scientific research study that incorporated an incredible 284 previously published peer-reviewed clinical studies, many conducted in university research labs. All of the product claims made about Avesil are substantiated by this large volume of research.

Unlike many fad weight loss ingredients (hoodia, acai berry, etc.) which are at best supported by folklore and at worst by pop culture, Avesil is totally rooted in disciplined scientific study. In fact, two research trials conducted on human subjects, later published in highly respected scientific journals, concluded that the primary ingredients in Avesil resulted in an average weight loss of more than 3 times that of a healthy diet and exercise alone.

Customers will notice that the claims made about Avesil are quite reasonable and not the least far-fetched. Simply put, Avesil is a safe, healthy way to promote a significant increase in weight loss when taken in conjunction with a healthy diet and exercise. In today's market there is a shamefully high number of consumers who have been deceived by outrageous "no work" promises, manufactured customer testimonials and bogus before/after pictures used by so many marketers of weight loss supplements. Avesil promises to deliver healthy, reasonable, and significant weight loss benefits - all offered through the process of a risk-free trial, leaving customers with very little to lose (other than weight).
