Eat Better America Review
What You Should Know
General Mills sponsors the “Eat Better America” website. Consulting with nutritionists, fitness experts, MDs, and the Bell Institute of Health and Nutrition, GM has put together a members-only website that includes forums, chat rooms, well-researched articles, and a customizable “my spot” where you store your favorite or best-found dietary advice.
List of Ingredients
You are to use GM’s Eat Better America site to join the “Revolution” and learn how to consume only the best ingredients to fit to your own personal weight and fitness goals, based on your personal needs, body type, metabolism, etc. Each person is different, so different people will eat different foods in differing amounts, although there are definitely some core components that all will have in common, such as cutting out a lot of refined sugars.
Product Features
Pro’s
- A free resource backed by a name (General Mills) that you can trust and plenty of authentic research.
- Modern, easy to prepare recipes that keep you filled as well as help you stay fit.
- Free food coupons from sponsors.
- Diabetic and Vegan friendly.
Con’s
- Assumes a 2,000 calorie a day lifestyle and physical needs, which does not apply to all people.
- Just as with other highly detailed fitness and nutrition research sites like Web MD, the advice and info here are only as good as the attitude and discipline of the person reading them.
- Seems to be a site more geared toward people who want general fitness advice, not hard-core weight loss guidance.
- A great deal of what is at Eat Better America is nothing new; given the obesity epidemic, this very effective but same-ol’ same-ol’ information may not spark the “Revolution” as GM says.
- Members can all too easily put together their own “diet and fitness plan” which, subconsciously, they make too easy on themselves, leading to ineffectual results.
Conclusion
There is certainly nothing wrong with “Eat Better America” and, especially given those free coupons, it’s a noble effort. But, it relies too much on members’ personal responsibility and health and fitness intelligence–and with so many people overweight, obese, and out of shape, that’s not a good idea for a great many people. If you are going to be a member here, that’s fine, but you should also seek out your own personal diet and fitness coaches, who you will have to pay for.
